Feelings, Facts or Truth

“The mind is everything.  What you think you become.”

Do you want to live in victory overcoming problems and obstacles?  Do you want to get off the emotional roller coaster that your life has become?  We can all do this if we look at our life with the right perspective.  We can either live by feeling, facts or truth; but only one of these will bring a steadiness to our life.

When we live by our feelings we are ever reacting to our perceptions of our world.  We react first and think second and usually our perception is incorrect.  When we have negative emotions we sometimes make rash or poor decisions in order to make those feelings go away.  When we give our emotions the driver’s seat in our life, rationality typically goes out the window and our life is just a series of ups and down.

Another way is living by facts.  Facts are things that are true about our circumstance.  Single motherhood, debt, stress, etc. may be facts for some of us right now.  But if we only look at the facts, the circumstances, we can trap ourselves into discouragement and fear.

So what is the truth you ask and isn’t that the same as the facts?  The truth is what God says about us and our lives.  The bible is full of miracles, deliverances, and promises that are available for us today since Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever.  (Hebrews 13:8)  When we take our position as a son or daughter of God, we can live beyond our feelings and circumstances and live in the truth of God’s awesome provisions.  This doesn’t mean that we will never have trouble, but he promises to get us through the trouble.  He also gave us the power of the Holy Spirit, so that we can live in hope; we just have to tap into that power.

‘Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that you will abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” (Romans 15:13)

So get rid of phrases like, “I can’t help the way I feel”, and “I can’t change my circumstances”.  View your life with God’s eyes, unlock the power He has given you and take your position with Christ!

Verses about our position:

1.  We can do everything through Him who gives us strength. Phil 4:13

2.  With Christ we are co-heirs. Romans 8:17

3.  We are delivered from the power of evil.  Col. 1:13

4.  We will never be abandoned.  Hebrews 13:5

5.  God can supply all of our needs.  Philippians 4:19

6.  Any circumstance can be made good. Romans 8:28
