“But forget all that–it is nothing compared to what I am going to do. For I am about to do something new. See, I have already begun! Do you not see it?” -Isaiah 43:18-19
You are trusting God and moving forward; putting the past behind you and pushing toward the future. You are excited, and then a thought hits you and you ask yourself,
“What took me so long to move forward? Why did I waste so much time?”
Time is such a precious resource that we can feel cheated when we have wasted it. We can’t get it back, right?….. or maybe we can. God says that he will restore our wasted years.
“ Then I will make up to you for the years that the swarming locust has eaten….” (Joel 2:25)
In Christ all things can be new, even the calendar! He does this by putting us right back on His divine schedule, no matter how far off track we have gotten. Repentance brings us back what has been destroyed.
God also causes all things to work for His good. (Romans 8:28) The time that you think was just wasted may be a time of preparation for where you are headed. “There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under heaven.” (Ecclesiastes 3:1)
So don’t wast more time on regrets, but start to use your life wisely, “making the most of every opportunity because the days are evil”. (Ephesians 5:16)
