I’m a Survivor?

In today’s economic climate, it’s not hard to imagine that a lot of people are barely “surviving”.  Most months I would include myself; hoping to make ends meet as gas, food, and other expenses seem to rise almost daily.  But today I read something that really stuck with me.

“God wants us to move from a survival mentality to a position of ruling and reigning.  From just getting by, to really believing Him ‘to do exceedingly abundantly above all that you ask or think’ (Ephesians 3:20)”

How many times have we used the “j” word – just?  “If I could just make it this month”….”I’m just hoping to get at least two clients”…..I just  want to get through this. Those kind of statements keeps us in survival mode, and that is not what God wants for us.

For in the gospel God’s righteousness is being revealed from faith to faith, as it is written, “The righteous will live by faith.” (Romans 1:17)

So how do we go from just surviving to living abundantly?  We have to exercise our faith.  Faith is the tool that allows us to believe in God’s promises…..and there are many of them.  Faith is what compels us to believe that God will answer our prayers.  (“I tell you, you can pray for anything, and if you believe that you’ve received it, it will be yours.” Mark 11:24.)  Faith is what will help us see the situation with spiritual eyes to look beyond circumstances.

Don’t wake up just hoping to survive the day…..wake up knowing that God has an abundance of blessings waiting for you.  You just need to adopt a faith based attitude to receive them.
